Celebrating its fifth anniversary, the Queen Bee Half Marathon empowered by P&G and Kroger crowned a new champion Saturday, with Sarah Bishop,36, of Dayton, Ohio winning in a time of 1:19:22.
Second in the half marathon was Sarah Mazzei, 24, of Cincinnati, in 1:21:17 and third was past Flying Pig Marathon and Flying Pig Paycor Half Marathon champion, Amy Robillard, 39, of Cincinnati, in 1:21:23.
Finishing fourth was Amy Manning, 31, of Cincinnati in 1:22:21 and fifth was three-time Queen Bee Half Marathon champion, Katie Lenahan, 29, of Cincinnati in 1:25:13.
In the Queen Bee 4-Miler, Allison Echler, 27, of Cincinnati, a two-time winner of the Queen Bee 4-Miler, won her third crown in a near photo finish with 11-year-old Lucia Rodbro of Oxford, the winner of the 2018 Toyota 10K at the Flying Pig Marathon. Echler crossed the tape in 25:17 and Rodbro finished in 25:20.
Third was Caylin Holmes, 28, of Cincinnati in 27:27, fourth was April Kerley, 40, of Cincinnati in 27:41 and fifth was Erin Reder, 37, of Cincinnati in 27:51.
Sold out fields of 3,508 for the Queen Bee Half Marathon and 2,307 for the 4-Miler marked the fifth anniversary of the Queen Bee, empowered by P&G and Kroger and operated by the Flying Pig Marathon. In the previous four years of the Queen Bee, more than $350,000 have been raised for female-centric charities and non-profits.
