We know participating in a virtual event isn’t the same as taking it all in, in person. We get it, and we don’t love it either. We would much rather be there on race day with all of you to cheer you on! But since 2020 is a little different for us all, we’re rolling with the punches and hope you’ll join us. We’re working to create an engaging and inspiring virtual experience for you that will help encourage you all the way through training and across your finish line.
So if you’re debating whether or not you should join us, know that we and the rest of the Queen Bee community will have your back through it all. Additionally, see below for helpful information regarding our virtual events and what to expect if you choose to embark on the Queen Bee virtual experience.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with additional questions.
WHAT IS A VIRTUAL EVENT?
A virtual event allows participants to complete the race on their own. You will run or walk the race distance at your own pace and at a time and location of your choosing. You choose your own race day and your own starting line, whether it’s a treadmill, a park or your neighborhood street. This option will allow those, who want to invest heavily in their training and want to be part of Queen Bee Weekend despite where you live, to be rewarded for their efforts with the shirt and medal from their respective race.
DO I HAVE TO RUN MY VIRTUAL EVENT ON A SPECIFIC WEEKEND?
No, you choose your planned race date this fall. We suggest completing the race between 8/10 and October 31.
WILL IT BE A SET COURSE OR ONE WE CAN MAKE UP?
Participants will be choosing their own route for the virtual event. It would be unsafe for us to provide a route that all could use at any specific time. Additionally, the geographic nature of our participants being all over the country/world makes that difficult.
WE SPECIFICALLY ASK THAT YOU DO NOT USE ANY OF OUR RACE DAY ROUTES AS THESE ARE NOT PEDESTRIAN SAFE WITHOUT THE USUAL STREET CLOSURES AND POLICE ASSISTANCE WITH TRAFFIC. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT A GROUP RUN ON RACE WEEKEND.
WILL I HAVE TO USE MY PHONE, RUNNING WATCH OR OTHER DEVICE TO RECORD IT AND UPLOAD RESULTS?
We’re going to be on the honor system for completing the event. However, we ask that participants upload their finish time so we have a results page. You will have the option to upload your results manually or through the ASICS Runkeeper App.
After virtual final instructions are sent, you will receive a separate email on how to merge your race(s) from your Race Roster account to your Runkeeper profile. You will then select “Start Virtual Run” and follow the prompts to record your participation. Once recorded, your results will post automatically to Race Roster.
WHAT PARTICIPANT AMENITIES WILL I RECEIVE FOR THE VIRTUAL EVENT?
You will receive a shirt and medal for the event(s) you completed virtually. We will attempt to have in-person pickup for local residents to pick up these items when it’s safe to do so. For non-local residents and those unable to make an in-person pickup, we will mail to the address provided during the registration process. Please note that the estimated shipping time may take longer for participants living outside the U.S.
Downloadable race bibs, commemorative poster and finisher certificates will be available.
WILL I RECEIVE MY BAG IF I SIGNED UP FOR THE HALF MARATHON?
Please stay tuned for information on our premium bags. We plan to make them available for pickup or will ship for a $5 fee.
WHAT IS THE SNOUT AND STINGER CHALLENGE?
New this year! Earn an extra medal by participating in the Queen Bee Half Marathon or Medpace 4 Miler and either the Flying Pig Marathon, powered by P&G, or the Flying Pig Half Marathon, presented by Paycor. You will be automatically included in the challenge by registering for both races and both spring and fall virtual participants are eligible for this challenge.
IF I PARTICIPATE IN THE VIRTUAL RACE, WILL MY STATUS AS A QUEENS COURT MEMBER BE CHANGED?
Your status as a Queen’s Court member will not be changed whether or not you participate in the 2020 Queen Bee Half Marathon.
WILL THERE BE AWARDS FOR THE VIRTUAL EVENT?
As everyone will be on the honor system and submitting their own finish times, we will not be offering awards for the virtual event.
HOW CAN I REGISTER FOR THE QUEEN BEE VIRTUAL EVENTS?
Registration is now open, click here.
IS THE PIG WORKS APP AVAILABLE FOR THE QUEEN BEE?
Yes, the Pig Works app, driven by TQL, will be available for fall participants beginning on August 10.
ARE THERE ANY TRAINING PROGRAMS AVAILABLE FOR QUEEN BEE VIRTUAL EVENTS?
Training is being offered by all of our official running partners. Some programs are being offered in person, while others are being offered virtually. Click the links below to explore all your options, including those from our official training partner, Fleet Feet:
